Whenever we’re asked “when is Firefox going to be released” we endeavor to answer to the best of our abilities, but the truth of the matter is that we’ll only ever ship “when it’s ready”. We have a lot of indicators that help us understand when the product is ready for release: feedback from our pre-release milestones, excitement in the community and the press, availability of compatible Add-Ons, and a large active beta community helping us ensure that the release is compatible with all the various sites on the Internet.

After more than 34 months of active development, and with the contributions of thousands, we’re proud to announce that we’re ready. It is our expectation to ship Firefox 3 this upcoming Tuesday, June 17th. Put on your party hats and get ready to download Firefox 3 — the best web browser, period.

If you got nothing better to do June 9 through 13, Steve Jobs is hosting his “landmark” three-pronged developer conference in San Francisco, with choices for Mac, IT and iPhone concentrations. Have a look at the list of session topics, including iPhone Multi-Touch Gestures, Ruby on Rails Apps for Safari, even CoreBanana and Xcode for Chimps (wait, maybe not those last two). If you do plan on attending, start saving now for those expensive-ass tickets. [WWDC Sessions]

From AppleInsider:

Apple Inc. this week began testing Mac OS X 10.5.3 Update, a third maintenance and security update to its relatively new Leopard operating system that already bundles over 75 bug fixes and code corrections.

The Mac maker on Thursday informed its vast developer community of the availability of Mac OS X 10.5.3 Build 9D10, a pre-release copy of the software update featuring a focus list spanning some two dozen core components.

Among those components in need of evaluation, people familiar with the matter tell AppleInsider, are AddressBook, AppleScript, Audio, Back To My Mac, Dashboard, the Dock, DVD Player, Finder, Graphics, iCal, Mail, Portable Home Directories, Printing, Rosetta, Spaces, Spotlight, Time Machine, and VoiceOver.

In a set of developer notes reported to have accommodated the update, Apple is also said to have listed 75 code corrections that have already been baked into this first external build, including two aimed at critical memory leaks within CoreAnimation and iCal.

Other fixes target Dashboard, iCal alarms and syncing, Installer App, Spotlight indexing, PDFs within the Preview App, Mail alarms, Spaces, Stacks and the Dock.

Mac OS X 10.5.3 is presumed for a release sometime in April or May.

Let’s hope they can fix some of the remaind issues, especially a graphics card update so I can play Second Life on my MacBook Pro without it crashing or freezing up all the time. Anyone in the beta test? Post your comments below!

Straight from WordPress.org:

A customizable dashboard, multi-file upload, built-in galleries, one-click plugin upgrades, tag management, built-in Gravatars, full text feeds, and faster load times sound interesting? Then WordPress 2.5 might be the release for you. Its been in the oven for a while, and were finally ready to open the doors a bit to give you a taste.

For the past few months, weve been working with our friends at Happy Cog Jeffrey Zeldman, Jason Santa Maria, and Liz Danzico to redesign WordPress from the ground-up. The result is a new way of interacting with WordPress that will remain familiar to seasoned users while improving the experience for everyone. This isnt just a fresh coat of paint weve re-thought the look of WordPress, as well as how its organized so that you can forget about the software and focus on your own creative pursuits.

I am looking forward to this redesign of Wordpress. It’s been a while since its been redone, time for some changes. Thanks Wordpress for your hard work and labor to helps the blogging community stay active.

Sources at Microsoft finally released information on Windows 7 stating that it will be out in “three years”. Apparently there start date on the system was back in Jan 30th, 2007, of course, don’t hold your heads up for a Jan 30th 2010 release because we all know Microsoft very well and that never happens. But you can except “Vienna” to be out in early 2010 with hopefully some advanced features and state-of-the-art technology integrated in to it. After all, this is probrably the last version of Microsoft Windows to come out. Stay tuned to Kryptonlogic for breaking development on this and more articles.
