From Engadget:

You might have heard that the latest iPhone 2.0 beta firmware allows users to save web images to its running camera roll for later download to its host machine (or sharing via email). Well, a reliable source let us know that the image capturing good times don’t end there: the iPhone now capable of taking full screen caps (like the one above) simply by holding the sleep button, then tapping the home button. We haven’t personally tested either technique (we already know what you’re thinking: we can’t say whether it captures screens from a video), but apparently it flashes white to indicate the cap’s been taken and the image has been added to your roll. Let’s hope these two neato features make it to the release firmware.

This looks amazing and I can’t wait, this might stop others from jailbreaking because of something most people like. We can only wait and see!!

From CNN:

DUBLIN, Ireland (AP)  — From Rome’s Colosseum to the Sydney Opera House, floodlit icons of civilization went dark Saturday for Earth Hour, a worldwide campaign to highlight the waste of electricity and the threat of climate change.

Irish observation of Earth Hour got a day’s head start because civil servants were told to turn off their office lights and shut down computers, not to leave them on standby mode, when they left work Friday night.

Normally they stay on all weekend, a practice that campaigners hope to abolish. Astronomers gathered in Dublin’s vast Phoenix Park in vain hopes that the city lights would dim sufficiently to permit them to see the Milky Way and other faint heavenly objects.

From AppleInsider:

Preparing the Apple TV’s viewers for the weekend, Apple on Friday night patched its media hub to version 2.0.1.

The fix, available through the Apple TV’s own update utility, is not documented by the company and appears primarily to be a maintenance update.

However, a preliminary discovery reveals a Genres category under My Movies, letting owners browse by type.

The download represents the first minor upgrade to the Apple TV’s firmware since February’s Take 2 overhaul introduced a completely redesigned interface as well as support for iTunes movie rentals and streaming podcasts.

YaY for Apple TV owners, now you have another great update. Don’t miss it by running Software Update off your Apple TV ASAP.

Kind of makes those New Years resolutions of yours seem a bit silly now, but AT&T has some high hopes for 2008. While it mulls its own 700MHz options and leaves the C block to the likes of Verizon, the company plans to build out its 3G network into 80 more cities, which boosts the number to 350 “leading” markets in the US, a rollout AT&T has been sluggish to compete with Verizon and Sprint on. AT&T also pledges to complete its HSUPA network by the middle of the year for speedier uploads. AT&T’s not giving many specifics on its future network plans, just that existing infrastructure improvements pave the way for HSPA+ and LTE in the “years to come.” Let’s hope those years come fast, these HD downloads we keep hearing about are liable to set a few cell towers on fire by year’s end.

As you know, American Airlines is prepping in-flight WiFi in addition to, uh, anti-missile systems. Good news on the former, pricing is set. Good if $10 WiFi for flights less than three-hours or $12.95 for longer flights excites your fiscal sweet-spot like it does American’s. Rollout will begin this summer on AA’s 767-200 jets before rolling out across its entire fleet.
